Salt Lake 12, Medicine Hat 6
MEDICINE HAT – A six-run third inning, highlighted by a three-run home run by left fielder Jim Furguson and a solo home run by right fielder Jon Beuder, rocketed Salt Lake past Medicine Hat 12-6. The Trappers received a strong four-inning performance by John Groennert, whose nine strikeouts helped preserve the win for Yasuhiro Hiyama. Hiyama went five innings for the Trappers. Singles by Jon Leake and Furguson brought home three runs in the first inning. The Trappers made it 9-0 in the third on the homers by Furguson and Beuder. Salt Lake put three more on the board in the sixth on a bases-clearing double by Leake, who ended the night with four RBI’s.
