“The Streak” Game 12 – July 7, 1987

Salt Lake 4, Great Falls 0

Salt Lake Trappers starting pitcher Mike Humphrey twirled seven innings of three hit, six-strikeout ball to earn his third win and Frank Colston cracked a fifth inning, bases clearing double to spear head a 4-0 Trappers win.  The Dodgers never advanced a runner beyond second base against Humphrey, who retired 12 out of 15 batters from the third to the seventh innings.

After scoring one run in the first inning, the Trappers fell silent until the fifth.  After striking out twice, Colston got his bases clearing double driving in two runs, and a third run came when Jon Leake scored after the Dodgers’ centerfielder bobbled the ball. It was Colston’s seventh double, and his 12th and 13th RBI’s, for the season.
