Salt Lake 11, Great Falls 0
The outcome was never in doubt after the first inning. The Trappers had it all together in this one – outstanding pitching, strong hitting and errorless fielding. Japanese right-hander Koichi Ikeue breezed to his third victory. Ikeue hurled a three-hitter, struck out 10 and did not walk a batter.
Salt Lake batters chased the Great Falls starting pitcher in the first inning while taking a 5-0 lead. A bloop single by leadoff hitter Anthony Blackmon, followed by a couple of errors and a three-run home run by Mike Malinak did the damage. Malinak had three hits and knocked in five runs.
Ed Citronelli drove in two runs with a fourth inning single, while Matt Huff’s double and a single by Malinak provide three runs in the sixth. Frank Colston knocked in the final run with a seventh-inning single.
